Tasmania Testbed
Well, as cc in svg.cc stands for Cocos (Keeling) islands, I decided to search for sample GIS data of this area and discovered Geoscience Australia's wonderful download pages. Unfortunately Cocos (Keeling) was to small so I picked Tasmania instead. Click on the image to the left for a first simple map in SVG showing rivers, lakes, roads, railroads, airports and mayor cities. Data was sourced from Geoscience Australia and is used under licence.

Read a short story about how this map was created using Perl, SVG, PostgreSQL & PostGIS. Have a look at the source codes and get a first impression on how to use SVG for mapping. This section will probably be of interest for PostgreSQL users who want to get in touch with SVG as well as SVG users who are not familiar with delivering content from a database.
